installation @ crossing art gallery, NYC, june 2014

I placed a partition in the gallery. It defined an undefined space. I placed pedestals in the empty space. They defined the structure of the emptiness. I placed white boards on the floor. They defined negative and positive spaces. I placed lines and nails. They defined random connections. Here, I created a space related to my work, "Open Ended (2009)." This is an installation where a viewer is invited to walk through the space within the painting. When he/she walks within and around the installation, the viewer walks in between segments of the grid. Here, I invite him/her to see how fragile and arbitrary the pre-defined structure is.
